Wickedness of Man
Wickedness of Man
The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.
Do you ever think this applies to today? Thankfully, we know that it is not EVERY human. There are still many Godly people on earth. We pray for revival and at times, there is a surge in people coming to Jesus. We have witnessed that after 9/11 and recently after Charlie Kirk was shot. We rejoice over the souls won for Jesus.
But the ones that resist…. It seems there is no changing some hearts. So many people are so sure they are right. It seems the line between “good & evil” is blurred, yet the distance between the 2 sides is getting greater. They call Christians hateful because we try to tell people about sin, but they don’t understand that we tell them because we love them and we do not want them to be eternally separated from Christ. They are sure that abortion is a right, that same sex marriage is a loving option for anyone. But if those “rights” keep them from Christ eternally, it is not a good option.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
This verse definitely sums up our society today! Many verses do. God has told us in the Bible exactly how things will go and so far, we are right on schedule. God made us many promises along with telling us about our world. So, when things are hard, when we see the evil and do not know how to deal with it, when we see so much sickness and depravity, where do we turn?
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
From the beginning of time, God has been in control. He created us in His image, and He knows how many hairs are on your head! I wonder how many times a month are we hit with something that has the potential to be frightening. Financial issues, marriage issues, health issues, children or grandchildren issues. We worry about loved ones, We worry about all of these issues at some point but in Isaiah God tells us not to fear or be dismayed. That covers everything!
I am having an MRI of my heart tomorrow. I am less worried about the test outcome than I am about the actual test. Then I get upset with myself. I am a child of God; I write all of these devotions. I should not have so much anxiety over being stuck in a tiny tube for 45 minutes. But it is these times that I will be unable to think of anything but asking for God’s help in getting through it. Thankfully, God is faithful and will comfort me. I know this from experience.
Lord, our world is a mess. There is evil all around us. There are “issues” all around us staring us in the face. Be our constant companion and remind us how you will always be there for us. Amen.
