Blessed are the forgiven
Blessed are the forgiven
Ps. 32: 1-8 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
2 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit.
3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.[b]
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
6 Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them.
7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
We have easily established that we are ALL sinners. We all fall short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). The older I get the more I realize what a sinner I am, and how badly I need a savior. But one thing I do know for sure is that I AM blessed to be forgiven! We need a savior. Someone we can go to when life is “challenging”! Someone who will protect us when the flood waters start to rise, someone high enough to not be bothered by them. We need someone we can run to and hide. Someone who will protect us in times of trouble. And someone who will teach us to grow, to go in the path that He would have us go, for our own good. Then to counsel us with love. I have prayed to ask God to help me make a decision. Sometimes the answer is so obvious (I just love that) but other times, I struggle hearing Him tell me what might be best for me to do. Many times it is a feeling, of peace in one direction or the other. The great part about it is the fact that even if I mess up, take the wrong path or get pulled into sin, the fact is God is bigger than anything we mess up. He will not abandon us and say, “you blew it, now you deal with it”. But He just offers us plan B. Isn’t it comforting to know that no matter what we do, we cannot ruin God’s plan for our lives?
Lord, thank you for being so willing to come to our aid. So ready to fix our problems (not always in our timing). But always for our best. Amen
