Bold Faith

Bold Faith

In the days following Charlie Kirks death, we have learned even more about him. I have heard him say, several times, that he wanted to be remembered “for his courage for his faith”. He also wanted to be remembered as someone who loved the Lord and put Him first, just above family and country. Some of the advice he gave on campus included “find a wonderful woman, get married, have children and make a life. This life should include God at the middle of it”. He gave wonderful advice to all who would listen. He loved his country, but he loved his God even more. There was not a speaking engagement that he did not make that clear. A friend asked him, “with all the violence today, aren’t you concerned when you go on to these campuses and speak of God and sin?” Charlie’s answer was quick: if that is the way God chooses for me to go, then that’s ok. His life was fully in God’s hands.

Do you have that kind of faith? Do I? Christians throughout time have been persecuted for their faith. It is getting worse. It is worse in other countries, but it is obviously worse here too. This country is the last bastion of freedom. If we fall, there is nowhere else to go with our freedoms. I believe that we have enjoyed the freedoms and prosperity in this country because it was built on the Christian faith and belief system.

John 15: 18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[a] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

One thing Charlie’s death brought to light is the hatred for Christians and that they are trying to silence God’s voice. We are in the end times, things will not get better. The enemy has increased his efforts to take people with him. We need to increase our efforts to take people with us.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Lord, help us to have a bold faith that we would tell others of your goodness and grace. Help us to plant seeds that only you can harvest. Amen
