The Discernment of Dogs

I recently heard Tucker Carlson talking about dogs. He has 2 and they are considered family members. He talks about the joy they give him when they do goofy things and his wife and he enjoy a laugh. But he got my attention when he said that dogs can tell a liar immediately. He said that God gave us discernment to tell but we don’t always listen. I agree with him. I wouldn’t say that I always have the gift of discernment but maybe it’s because I am not looking for it or listening to God’s prompts. When I do listen or ask, God has not led me wrong. I found it interesting when he talked about the dogs growling at people that they didn’t know. Some people they might bark at a little but other people you can tell right away that the dogs are not going to warm up to them. He said most of the time when the dogs had an issue with someone, he found that he didn’t want anything to do with them either. He talked about a particular person that before meeting him, he had a feeling about this man. But upon meeting him sirens and red flags screamed at him. Tucker mentioned the man’s name, I will not. People bristled a little at the name and he said, you know, I don’t have to apologize because the kind of discernment, the huge red flags and screaming in my soul says I am right. Now, I don’t know Tucker, in fact, I have only heard him a few times but he always has common sense ideas for our country. What I found fascinating is his feelings about discernment. Have you ever met someone and felt, those “alarms” in your spirit? I have!! I am not talking about the long haired guy with tatoos that looks sketchy. I have met a few who were the nicest people and loved the Lord like no other. These are the people that God “warns” us about with that discernment. Maybe you have been in a situation where your spirit screamed to move yourself. Being a realtor I have been in vacant homes in the middle of nowhere with people I had not met before. Only once did I feel that warning to move myself, and just as I was trying to figure out how to tackfully get out of the house I was showing, I got a call from Roger asking how it was going. That gave me the chance to tell this person that my husband was coming to help me with something at the house so that this person knew someone would be there soon. The person left right away. I never heard from them again and I was glad.

There is no doubt that evil is rampant. The enemy is working overtime.

1 Kings 3:9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?” (King Solomon asks God)

1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

If you have never felt discernment, Pray and pay attention. I believe that it is a gift God gives us as needed but the more we ask, the more we pursue God, the more gifts, like this, I believe he bestows on us.

Thank you Lord, for ALL your good and gracious gifts, help us to be mindful of all that you give us and make us ever grateful. AMEN
