He’s Alive!

I remember thinking that there is nothing “Good” about Good Friday. At least for Jesus!! When we think what suffering He endured, we are sickened. He did that for us! But………

SUNDAY IS COMING!

Up from the grave He arose

With a mighty triumph o'er His foes

He arose a Victor from the dark domain

And He lives forever with His saints to reign

He arose! (He arose)

Very early, before dawn, the women went to the tomb to cover the Lords body with spices. When they got there the stone was rolled away and the women were upset. When they went inside, there were 2 men in radiant white who asked why they were crying. They bowed down to the men and asked if they knew where Jesus was. The men asked them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He has arisen as He told you He would.” They still were confused but went to tell the others. The woman saw a man that they thought was a gardener. Everyone had seen Jesus die. There was no mistake about that. In fact, even after He was dead, the roman soldier stuck a spear in his side. Why, then was He not in the tomb. In John’s account, Jesus spoke to Mary. He asked why she was crying. She asked if he knew who had taken his body. Then he called her name. “Mary”. And she knew. “Rabbi” she replied. I cannot imagine the excitement, the confusion. He tried to tell them, but they could not get past their earthly knowledge of death. Even after all of the miracles they saw Him perform.

I wish that I could convey on paper the excitement, the celebration that we should feel on Easter morning! It is the culmination of everything our faith is. As Christians, we have the ONLY religion whose “God” sent His son to die to save us. If Jesus hadn’t given himself in sacrifice, none of this would matter. If He had not risen from the grave, none of this would matter. NO other religion offers salvation and life eternal in heaven. So, Sunday is coming and we will rejoice in our risen savior.
